Why do they called the Taylormade R7 Cgb Max Irons,what do they mean.The word “MAX” stands for maximum COR, maximum COR zone, maximum ball speed, maximum clubhead speed and maximum forgiveness. The r7 CGB MAX incorporates a variety of technologies that promote all of these elements. Like the r7 CGB MAX, the r7 XD delivers an exceptional combination of power, distance and forgiveness, and is also extremely easy to launch. However, the r7 CGB MAX offers a greater degree of refinement that allows it to perform even better.
The r7 CGB MAX boasts the largest clubface area of any TaylorMade iron. The extremely large clubhead employs tungsten weights to increase MOI for greater stability, and incorporates our tour-proven Inverted Cone Technology to promote higher ball velocity on off-center hits for greater distance shot to shot. Add our SuperFast Technology and you get the longest, easiest-to-hit iron we’ve ever created.
TaylorMade R7 CGB contain tungsten cartridges in the heel and toe which increase MOI for total forgiveness. The R7 CGB Max irons deliver a large high strength steel club face that is fast and thin to optimize distance. TaylorMade R7 CGB has a hollow top-line and wide sole design allowing the center of gravity to be positioned low and deep for higher initial launch trajectory and maximum carry distance.
This Taylormade R7 CGB Max Irons set is in perfect condition but 1/3 the price of a new set. They looked new, and I was concerned they might be knockoffs, but the serial # matched the 3-SW M shaft set. More importantly, they are a pleasure to hit – more distance and much more accuracy.
These Taylormade R7 CGB Max clubs look very cutting edge. Given that they are TaylorMade, this is not very surprising. TaylorMade always seems to come up with high tech looking club offerings. From the textured black area on the backside of the clubface, to the black steel shafts…head to toe, these irons will look awesome in your bag.

TaylorMade has announced its latest lineup of clubs, a game-improvement suite that includes driver, fairway woods and irons and carries the designation r7 CGB Max.
The “Max” (TaylorMade spells it all upper-case), the company says in a press release, stands for: … maximum distance, maximum forgiveness, maximum performance, and the kind of maximum ease of use that most players wouldn’t have dreamed possible.
The “CGB” stands for “center of gravity back,” as in the center of gravity is positioned deep and to the rear in the respective clubheads. This is the typical tactic at this time for game-improvement and super-game improvement clubs. Moving the CG deep and rearward helps the golfer achieve a higher launch – to get the ball up in the air, in other words – and more carry distance.

Don’t be confused with New 2008 R7 CGB Max Iron & Older R7 CGB Max Version, although they are pretty easy to confuse…name wise at least. A mere glance at the club will reveal numerous differences between the 2006 model and the 2008 version.
TaylorMade vowed to make the new r7 CGB MAX family of clubs to be the very best game-improvement equipment that money can buy, and the iron lives up to that promise. The extremely large head is optimally weighted with the help of visible tungsten weights that increase MOI for greater stability and forgiveness. The topline is hollow and the saved weight is used to move the CG deep into the clubhead to make it incredibly easy to launch the ball on a towering, distance-enhancing flight. Clubhead speed is dramatically boosted by the incorporation of SuperFast Technology, which includes the ultra-light shaft and the thin, flexible and fast clubface (thinner than the previous r7 CGB MAX model). The fairway woods will follow the driver to market by one month, hitting retail displays Nov. 30, 2007.
The r7 CGB Max fairway metals incorporate the same approaches as the driver: triangular head shape to pull the center of gravity away from the clubface; and movable weights.
As with the driver, there are three weight ports in the fairway wood heads. According to TaylorMade, up to 22 yards of trajectory change are possible through different weight configurations.
The fairway woods will be available in 3-, 5- and 7-woods, both right and lefthanded, with an MSRP of $360 per club.
